KABAKOVA GALINA

André Mazon’s “Slavic Fairy Tales from Southwestern Macedonia” (1923) is the first edition of the Institute of Slavic Studies, founded that same year. Another collection has been published later named “Slavic Documents, Fairy Tales and Songs from Southern Albania” (1936). The collection and publication of the fairy tales is a little-studied aspect of the outstanding philologist’s heritage. We are analyzing the circumstances and principles of publishing of oral texts in Macedonian dialects, as well as the reception of the first anthology, its scientific and political resonance, after the documents stored in the archives of the Institute of Slavic Studies and the Cher Department.Keywords: André Mazon, Macedonian fairy tales, “Slavic Fairy Tales from Southwestern Macedonia”, “Slavic Documents, Fairy Tales and Songs from Southern Albania”.
